This new platform provides social connectivity through an easy-to-use online marketplace that reduces landfill waste
BOULDER, COLORADO, MAY 8, 2024 - Peerby is the Netherland’s largest online sharing community, and now, the platform is making its debut in Boulder, Colorado. Boulder residents can now join their neighborhood in Peerby to borrow and share items in various categories including power tools, kitchen appliances, sports equipment, party supplies, homewares, and more.
Peerby first got its start in 2011 in Amsterdam and has since built successful communities that support the mission of their model: to build community and reduce landfill waste by lending and borrowing everyday items. One in four Amsterdam households is already a Peerby member. Now, Peerby is bringing its platform to the United States, with Boulder, Colorado, being its first U.S.-based community.
According to Boston Smith, Peerby’s Boulder community ambassador, “I’m thrilled to spearhead the Boulder, Colorado, Peerby community. We’ll soon be hosting events and doing community outreach, so we encourage people to stay tuned for updates.”
Boulder residents can join Peerby’s marketplace on the web for free. From there they can search for and borrow items near them or lend their own underutilized goods to the neighborhood surrounding communities. Peerby makes it easy to borrow or lend with a warranty for each transaction to protect against damage or loss. By sharing items through Peerby, Boulder residents can save money on everyday items while getting to know their neighbors and reducing landfill waste.
“We are very excited to launch Peerby in Boulder. The platform has been wildly successful in Amsterdam, and we believe Boulder offers the right cultural fit for us. We look forward to sharing,” said Daan Weddepohl, Founder & CEO at Peerby.
